*MLB Loser(-1.05u): Mets/Phillies F5 UNDER 4(-105)

--This one hurt because it was over before it really even started. The Mets put up a 4 spot in the first inning off of Zack Wheeler, who I believe is one of the better pitchers in the game. Shortly thereafter, the Phillies were able to scratch off 2 runs off Taijuan Walker early to ensure that this was a fat loser. It’s going to be hard for me to put money on any Mets game until they can establish some sort of identity. While their lineup did have good career numbers against Wheeler(a former Met himself), they have been historically bad with runners in scoring position to start the season. And yet, they seemed to be very comfortable early in this game. I also liked this play because the Phillies had an assortment of injuries in their lineup, including their main piece Bryce Harper. That said, Taijuan Walker is still not a guy I trust yet in a high stakes matchup. All in all, this was one my numbers had going Under but ultimately a game I should’ve laid off.

*MLB Winner(+1.15u): Cardinals -1.5(+115) @ Pirates

--Even as a Cardinals backer, I wouldn’t have predicted the Birds would strike for 12 runs tonight. Then again, when Trevor Cahill is on the mound, anything is possible. With the total listed at 7, I was a bit hesitant to lay a run and a half with the Cardinals because a low-scoring game is what was implied by the oddsmakers. What ultimately got me over the hump was my brain; when you’re getting good value on Jack Flaherty facing a subpar lineup and matching up with possibly the worst starter in the league, you take it. Flaherty bounced back from a shaky start, the Cardinals erupted offensively, and this was a pretty easy winner.

*NBA Winner(+1u): Hornets -7 vs Pistons

--The Pistons simply had too many contributors out to be able to compete for 48 minutes in this game. On the other side, LaMelo Ball did his thing in his first game back from injury and the Hornets played yet another solid game. Charlotte is not at a point where they are going to be overlooking a clearly inferior opponent, and luckily they didn’t tonight. This game had some runs on both sides, but ultimately the Hornets hit some clutch 3’s late to ensure the cover.

*NBA Best Bet Loser(-1.1u): Jazz -6.5 vs Raptors

--While the Jazz won this game by 4 thanks to a strong 4th quarter, they still weren’t able to get the job done for me. I’ll concede that this wasn’t the best spot for Utah coming off last night’s game in Phoenix and being down Mike Conley and Donovan Mitchell. However, I simply hate everything about this Toronto team. Despite being right in the playoff hunt, the Raptors have indicated time-and-time again that they don’t care about winning. That was clear again tonight as they rested PG Kyle Lowry despite drawing a favorable matchup with Mike Conley out. The Raptors might’ve covered tonight, but this is still a team I’m looking to fade moving forward.
