May 20th Recap
May 19th Record: 4-0, +4.4u
May Overall Record: 24-19-1, +5.09u
*MLB Winner(+1.4u): Yankees -1.5(+140) @ Rangers
--This game remained at a 0-0 standstill through 6 innings as both Dane Dunning and Domingo German delivered solid starts today. Luckily, Gary Sanchez and Aaron Judge delivered RBI singles in the second to put the Yanks up 2-0 before Chad Green and Aroldis Chapman shut the door on a second straight shutout. This one was a bit too close for comfort at the end; I definitely expected the Yankees to have more success on offense today. That said, it does feel good to have been right about German continuing his success today. The Rangers are what they are: a bad lineup. If they were good, they wouldn’t have been no-hit twice in the first two months of the season. Before German’s injury issues, he was a rising star within the rotation. I’m glad to see he’s picked back up where he left off a couple of years ago. Very nice plus-money winner to start the day.
*MLB Winner(+1u): Twins/Angels GM1 OVER 7(+100)
--I took this because I expected a strong offensive output from the Twins; while Minnesota only scored 1 run, the Angels put up 7 to get this one over the total. While Minnesota did win 6-3 in the second game of this double header, something is truly off with this ball club right now. They are way too talented to be 15-28 through the first quarter of the season. Lewis Thorpe had another rough start today, and Tyler Duffey allowed 3 runs in his 1 inning of work in the 5th. Alex Cobb threw 5 solid innings and the Angels lineup took care of business in the absence of Mike Trout. Not exactly how I projected this game to play out, but a win is a win.
*MLB Winner(+1u): Red Sox/Blue Jays OVER 9.5(-115)
--Let me be clear: The wind blowing in does NOT mean good offenses will be shut down. In back-to-back games, news of the wind caused this total to be bet down. And in back-to-back games, we have cashed the Over in this matchup. These offenses are versatile enough to where a little wind is not going to throw a wrench in their approach. Tonight especially, with two inconsistent starters in Pivetta and Matz, this was an Over game in every stretch of the imagination. Feels good to have been right on this read two nights in a row.
*NBA Best Bet Winner(+1u): Pacers/Wizards OVER 237.5
--In these teams’ 3 regular season matchups, the total number of points scored ranged from 256 to as high as 295. Was the playoff atmosphere really going to be enough to keep this game under the total? Obviously it wasn’t, as the Wizards shot a ridiculous 58% from the field and 50% from 3 on their way to a 142-115 win. With the pace that both these teams play at, I had a hard time seeing one stay under. It felt good to get a best bet winner to close out a 4-0, +4.4u night! I can’t wait to get back at it tomorrow.
