May 3rd Recap
Record: 2-0, +2.5u
*NBA Winner(+1u): Wizards -4 vs Pacers
--The Wizards are simply too hot to go against right now. Russell Westbrook collected another triple double tonight that included 21 rebounds and 24 assists. That’s truly unfathomable for a guard, but that’s the kind of performance you can expect out of a high-level player like Westbrook. The Pacers are a team in complete defensive disarray; without Myles Turner manning the paint tonight, they allowed 154 points to Washington en route to a 13 point loss. Indiana is one of the worst ATS teams and the league and can only be trusted by me if they’re facing off with a bottom-of-the-barrell team like OKC or Cleveland. As for the Wizards, things will get tougher when they travel to face the Bucks on Wednesday; considering how well they’ve played over the last month, I could very much see myself taking the points with the Wizards in that spot if the light is too inflated in Milwaukee’s direction(which it probably will be). It is also worth noting that Milwaukee will be playing in the second game of a B2B after squaring off with the Nets tomorrow, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get there. Good winner to start the night.
*NBA Winner(+1.5u): Lakers ML(+150) vs Nuggets
--Another day, another NBA contrarian winner. We’ve seen this story too many times. A major contributor(in this case LeBron James) is ruled out, the line moves in the other direction(because common sense, right?), and lo and behold the underdog finds a way to win. The Lakers’ defense proved to be the key difference, holding a formidable Nuggets offense to just 89 points. As well as the Nuggets have played since Jamal Murray went down, it was going to be an uphill battle without their top 3 guards and facing a solid Lakers defense. The Lakers didn’t exactly play a clean game themselves, turning the ball over 20 times and scoring just 93 points. But they found a way to win without LeBron, who is ultra-soft for sitting this game out by the way. I mean, how do you come out after last night’s game and trash the league for implementing the play-in tournament only to sit out the next day? Either way, this was a solid winner to close out a 2-0, +2.5u night!
